CPT Gurbisz died in Baghdad, Iraq, on Nov. 4, when an improvised explosive device detonated near their HMMWV during convoy operations.

He was assigned to the 26th Forward Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Victoria Gurbisz, his parents, Kenneth and Helen, and by a sister, Kathleen, 28.

"He and his soldiers believed in what they were doing," Kenneth Gurbisz said. "He dedicated himself to service of his country."

Proceeds from the CPT James M. Gurbisz bracelet will be donated to the Captain James M. Gurbisz Foundation.
