Jared A. Hassin, of Kenosha, WI, died on October 24, 2023. He was a running back on the Army Football Team after transferring from the Air Force Academy to the Military Academy in 2010. Hassin rushed for 1,013 yards and scored nine touchdowns as a sophomore in 2010, tying the school record that year with four consecutive 100-yard rushing games.

“Born and raised in Wisconsin, Jared loved everything Wisconsin... a true Sconnie at heart. Jared was naturally drawn to athletics. On the field, he was a fierce competitor and a loyal teammate. Off the field, his love of athletics was visible from his 'you can never wear too much Badgers or Packers apparel' attitude. Jared dreamt of coaching youth athletics. He wanted to teach, train, and mentor young people to realize their full potential.

Jared was fearlessly passionate about everything he did. He was always dreaming up new ideas and inspiring others to pursue their passions. Those who have him in their heart will always keep hot peppers growing in their yard and attempt to replicate recipes from the Great British Bakeoff.

Forever a dog person, Jared believed there was no love like the love of a dog. While deployed to Afghanistan, he built a memorial in honor of a four-legged hero, Cody, who protected his unit's tactical outpost. Jared also volunteered at humane societies which led to the adoption of his forever buddies, Scott and Sherman.

Above all, Jared loved fiercely. Never short of kindness or compassion, he cared and believed in others with his whole heart. Jared's spirit lives on through an incredibly caring and loving network of family, friends, teammates, and battle buddies. Jared will be laid to rest in the magnificent Rocky Mountains. We are grateful for our memories and all that Jared taught us in his 33 years of life.”
