Born on August 19th, 1996, in Kingston, Jamaica, Okheem “Malik” Romani Riley was the son of Michael Riley and Nadene Riley. He departed this life on Thursday June 4th, 2021. Okheem was affectionately known as “Malik” to his close friends and family. Okheem was educated in Frederick County Public Schools and graduated with honors. He later attended and graduated from The United States Military Academy, West Point.

A true leader, Okheem would be the first of his family to serve in the United States Army after attending West Point. Okheem served as a First Lieutenant at Fort Riley in Manhattan, Kansas.

Okheem accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and recent recommitted when he found a church near the base he was stationed.

Migrating to the United States at a young age, Okheem lived his childhood in Frederick County, MD playing his favorite sport, soccer. Okheem’s love for soccer was unmatched. He played varsity soccer by the 10th grade at Thomas Johnson Highschool. Okheem played for various club teams including, but not limited to MSI, FC Frederick, and the Maryland ODP.

Okheem enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, meeting new friends, traveling, and working out. Combining many of his favorite activities, one of Okheem’s favorite trips was traveling to Spain to watch his favorite soccer team play. Apart from soccer, Okheem was a true team player. No matter where he was stationed, he would always call to bless the family holiday dinners, wish his family “Happy Holidays” and express thoughtful birthday wishes.

He leaves to cherish their memories, his loving mothers, Nadene Riley & Annmarie Murray, his big sisters, Anastasia Oates, Chantell Riley, Chante Oates, his big brothers, Akheem Riley, Michael Oates, Nicholas Oates, Forleke Salmon; grandmother, Rona Piggott. He is also survived by a niece, a nephew and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.
