1LT Donaldson "Donnie" Preston Tillar III (USMA '88)
1LT Donaldson P. Tillar died on February 27, 1991 when the UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter he was flying on was shot down on the way back from picking up another downed helicopter crew.
He was the only U.S. Military Academy (West Point) graduate who was killed in action during the Persian Gulf War. He attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech) before being accepted into West Point.
