Their Story

Remembering James Johnston.

Staff Sergeant James Granville Johnston, age 28, of Clarksville, Tennessee, formerly of Oak Ridge, passed on March 15, 2015. Jim was a 2004 Oak Ridge High School graduate, an Eagle Scout in Troop 328 and an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He served two tours of duty in Afghanistan and was assigned to HHB 101st Division Artillery, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, KY.

He was admired and respected by family, friends, and fellow soldiers for his love of country, bravery and leadership, gentle nature, loyal friendship, and sense of humor. He exemplified the character of an Eagle Scout. Jim was passionately devoted to his wife Lacey. Jim is survived by his wife Lacey, father and mother Bill and Margaret, brother Adam Sharp, sisters Rebecca and Sarah Ellen, father-in-law and mother-in-law Richard and Mabel Hubbs, as well as Lacey's sisters, Jacqueline Psensky and Jody Martin.

He is also survived by grandfathers, J. W. Johnston and SSG Gene Hubbs.
