Remembering Bob Parangan.
Bob Michael "Mike" Parangan was born January 25, 1978, in Redwood City, California. He made his adult home in Las Vegas, Nevada, with his wife, Elena, and their three daughters, Alyssa, Leila, and Celine.
Mike enlisted in the United States Air Force in March 1997 and spent the next twenty-one years as a logistics readiness professional — one of the airmen who keep supply and materiel flowing so flying units can do their jobs. His career took him from Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada to Yokota Air Base and then Kadena Air Base in Japan, where he served as Squadron Readiness Superintendent for the 18th Logistics Readiness Squadron, and finally to Dyess Air Force Base in Texas, where he arrived in October 2018.
Trusted again and again, Master Sergeant Parangan served as noncommissioned officer in charge eight times over his career; at Dyess, he directed a team overseeing a Department of Defense stock account valued at more than $1.4 billion.
To his family, he was simply the best of men. His bracelet carries the words his family chose for him — "Best Man - Father - Friend." Away from the uniform, Mike was a fixture at his daughters' basketball and softball games and loved traveling the world with the people closest to him.
Master Sergeant Bob Parangan died on January 1, 2019, at the age of forty, while still serving on active duty. He is remembered by the wife and daughters who loved him, and by the Air Force family he served for more than two decades.
