Their Story
Remembering Connor Overstreet.
Connor is survived by his wife Madeleine Khoilian, his parents, Brennen and Sharla Overstreet, his sister Shea Overstreet Buchanan, brother in law Trey Buchanan and nephew Brooks Buchanan, his grandparents, Robert and Antoinette Overstreet, and Bette Ann Rowland, and his cherished dogs Kenai and Harry.
Connor was loved by all who knew him and his family finds comfort in knowing that Connor lives on in the memories and lives of so many others, all of whom share that they are better people because they knew Connor.
Connor Scott Overstreet was born on the 30th of June, 1997 in Sacramento, California. From the beginning, Connor was sweet and sensitive, mischievous and curious, stubborn and kind hearted. As a toddler, Connor was frequently found stuck between legs of a chair that he crawled under to look at screws or wedged between the wall and the refrigerator as he investigated some unseen marvel.
Connor was an adventurous explorer.
Growing up, Connor was happiest when outside with his sister, friends and cousins. Together they spent countless hours of play in the yard, in the mud, wreaking havoc, yelling and laughing. Shea and Connor shared a quintessential childhood filled with slip-n-slides, imaginary play on their backyard swing set, jumping on the trampoline while listening to Green Day, and constant companionship.
Connor was athletic from a young age and swimming, water polo and skiing were his favorite sports. Connor was an avid outdoorsman and loved backpacking, rock climbing, hiking, scuba diving, motorcycling, biking, and even sailing which he picked up when he purchased a hobie cat with his flight school buddies in Pensacola.
When young Connor was enrolled in swim lessons, he and his cousin refused to get in the pool and Connor created elaborate excuses "that a tree might fall in the pool or a tiger would jump in". When Connor was told that he must learn to swim he insisted that he already knew how and proceeded to swim across the pool.
To this day, the extended circle of friends that Connor formed in the pool and throughout school are more like brothers and sisters to him. Connor truly cherished the lifelong friendships he formed early in his life and would gather with these friends across the country, throughout the years.
As much as Connor loved the outdoors, his love for music was as extensive, eclectic, and perhaps excessive. Think of Connor when you listen to Bon Iver, Jack Johnson, Katy Perry, Mac Miller, Frank Ocean, the Smashing Pumpkins or any other beautiful song. His love of music came partially from his dad and on the cross country road trips to Florida, Brennen and Connor would pick an artist from each state they passed through and listen to an album, cover to cover.
Shea always said that Connor was the smarter of the Overstreet siblings. He was designated a "Gifted and Talented" student in elementary school, but didn't want to be in the program if it meant he had to do more work. Connor graduated from Ponderosa High School in 2015 where he was Captain of his swim team and water polo team.
Connor attended University of Nevada, Reno where he was awarded a Presidential scholarship and achieved a bachelor of science engineering degree and a minor in mathematics, graduating in 2019. While in Reno, Connor frequented the river, the ski slopes, Lake Tahoe, the bars, and still found time to make the drive home to see his parents often.
In 2019 Connor got his dog and best friend, Kenai.
After college Connor worked for a civil engineering firm in Reno where he excelled in his field. Connor sought further fulfillment in his career and was accepted into Direct Commission Officer School for the United States Coast Guard in 2021 and was stationed in Miami upon graduation.
Wanting to make more of an impact, Connor was accepted to USCG flight school in 2024 alongside his then girlfriend Madeleine. Mads and Connor were introduced by a mutual USCG friend and they instantly hit it off. Connor frequently called his mom for advice on how to keep this girl because she was "the one".
Many friends recall that Mads made Connor the happiest they had ever seen him.
While in Pensacola, Connor made more lifelong friends, often remarking to his mom how lucky he was to have found wonderful friends in multiple phases of his life. The flight school boys frequented Flouders, Florabama and the beach, oftentimes in matching outfits. In November Connor married the love of his life and soul mate, Madeleine Khoilian.
Together they traveled often, enjoyed the beach and jet skiing, challenged each other in the gym, and welcomed Harry the weiner dog into their family.
Connor earned his wings in January of 2026 and all were thrilled when he was stationed to return to the West Coast and the town where his parents grew up, Ventura. Connor's time in Ventura was too short and yet he managed to make close friends and core memories. He was thrilled when Mads finally arrived at Air Station Ventura to pursue their careers as USCG MH-60 Helicopter aviators alongside one another.
Connor was scheduled to attend Designation Course for his final pilot training in September.
Connor's story will never be finished because he will live on in each of our hearts, memories, and actions as we embody the goodness that was Connor.
