Remembering Douglas A. DiCenzo.
CPT Douglas A. DiCenzo, 30, of Plymouth, N.H. died in Baghdad, Iraq, on May 25, 2006 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during combat operations. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry, 2nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany.
He is survived by his wife Nicole, infant son, Dakin, his mother, father, and a brother.
Where do we find such men who believe in DUTY, HONOR, COUNTRY? They are ones like Doug DiCenzo serving with conviction and humility.
These men are sons of fathers and mothers who raised them to be strong – like the granite rock of New Hampshire, they are fortified to weather the storm.
Doug was an avid outdoorsman – to be with nature whenever he could meant hiking long mountain trails, and listening to the call of lake and wood.
These men are loyal brothers to family, neighbors, and friends – they stand, deep-rooted, as bridges do and see their causes through to the end.
Doug DiCenzo, as a student, had an unwavering commitment to learn – as a classmate and an athlete his desire to lead others began to burn.
These men are faithful husbands devoted to the women they love; they are the fathers of precious children – God’s blessings sent from above.
Doug had a thirst and zest for life, so much was in his well – he gave of himself so completely to his son, Dak, and wife, Nicole.
These men are quiet leaders serving with spirit and dedication, holding fast to what they believe in preserving freedom for all people and nations.
Doug believed in the power one person had. He always looked for the good he could do – making a difference in the lives of those around him and approaching tasks with a “can do” attitude.
